From Mind to Map to Text within minutes

The process of generating ideas and translating them into actionable plans or text is a crucial aspect of many industries, including education, research, and business. However, this translation can often be difficult. This is where the power of mind maps and OpenAI tools come in. By using these tools in combination, it is possible to seamlessly generate text from mere unstructured ideas within minutes. This breakthrough potential for ideation has far-reaching implications, particularly in education. One of the key benefits of using mind maps is that they help to organize and structure ideas. Mind maps are visual representations of ideas that use diagrams and hierarchies to show relationships and connections between different concepts. By creating a mind map, it is possible to see how different ideas are related and to identify key themes and patterns. This makes it much easier to move from unstructured ideas to concrete plans or strategies. But the power of mind maps doesn't end th...

ChatPDF : Conversations with (long) documents

One of the most promising recent developments of AI-ChatBots is the ability to engage in conversations with documents. This breakthrough has the potential to revolutionize the way we access and process information, particularly in the realm of education. However, it also raises essential questions about the future of learning and assessment methods. AI-enabled conversations with tools like ChatPDF (see the experiment below) can accelerate knowledge acquisition by allowing students to engage with learning materials more interactively and on a personalized level. This can lead to more efficient and effective learning experiences, fostering collaboration across disciplines and creating a more comprehensive understanding of complex subjects. Additionally, AI can help teachers identify patterns and trends, enabling them to make better decisions and facilitate smoother transitions in curricula and teaching methods. Despite these potential benefits, there are valid concerns about the implica...

Beyond AI Assistance? A word on Closed Bot Exams

The world of education has seen significant changes over the years, with technology playing an increasingly important role in the way we learn, teach and do exams. In this blog post, we'll explore this transformation, the challenges it presents, and the potential benefits and drawbacks of what I call closed bot exams . As artificial intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT have become more sophisticated, they pose challenges when it comes to assessing students' knowledge and skills fairly. In the experiment at the end of this blog, ChatGPT has correctly solved 86 of 89 multiple choice questions in the field of Business Analysis. Such performances naturally lead to the idea of closed bot exams, which prohibit the use of AI tools during assessments. Implementing closed bot exams requires a combination of organizational and technical measures. Organizational measures involve setting clear guidelines and expectations for students, emphasizing academic integrity, and providing training...

Rethinking Exams in the Age of Chatbots

Today's experiment explores the potential of ChatGPT to assist me in the realm of exams, particularly within my field of teaching, Business Analysis. Can ChatGPT create a question for an exam? Indeed, it can do even more! In the experiment below, ChatGPT showcases (to varying extents) its ability to not only generate an exam question but also to engage in several related tasks: Generate a difficult critical question Solve the question Critically evaluate the solution (its own solution!) Attribute a mark between 1 and 6 Attribute a severe mark between 1 and 6 Defend a mark Refute a mark Generate a variation of the question which is difficult to solve Generate a variation of the question which is even more difficult to solve Give a correction scale with marks from 1 to 6  The impact of AI and chatbots like ChatGPT impact on university exams is becoming increasingly evident. Students and teachers alike are beginning to discover these tools, questioning their potential to generate, cor...

Virtual Voices: Testing Business Ideas with Conversational Personas

In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, companies are continually seeking innovative ways to test and refine their ideas. One intriguing approach that I have recently tested with ChatGPT is the use of virtual, conversational personas to simulate a diverse range of perspectives and spark dynamic discussions around product development. Can virtual personas be a game-changing, low-cost tool for testing business ideas? What could be the  potential benefits and drawbacks of using AI-generated personas to moderate discussions and provide valuable insights into consumer behavior and preferences. Virtual personas can offer a cost-effective and scalable method for understanding consumer behavior and preferences. By simulating a wide array of perspectives, these personas can help businesses quickly adapt to changing consumer preferences and stay ahead of the competition. Moreover, virtual personas have also to potential to speed up the testing process, generating insights quickly and...

The Snowflake Team - an introduction to conversational problem-solving with A.I.

In today's fast-paced world, problem-solving is becoming increasingly complex and dynamic. I believe that conversational snowflake teams are a promising evolution in problem-solving. A snowflake team is a problem-solving approach that involves bringing together a diverse discussion group of virtual individuals with unique perspectives and experiences to collaboratively address a particular issue or challenge . The term "snowflake team" came to my mind looking at snow falling into the termal baths of Leukerbad, Switzerland. It refers to the unique shape of snowflakes, which are created when ice crystals form around a nucleus in the atmosphere. Similarly, a snowflake team is formed around a central problem or question, with each member bringing their own unique insights and experiences to the table. My two experiments at the end of this post with ChatGPT as a roundtable moderator are an innovative way to explore the potential of snowflake teams in problem-solving. For simpl...

Embracing AI-Generated Case Studies: The Future of Business Education?

ChatGPT generates, solves and assesses business analysis case studies! The experiment at the end of the post shows its capacities. Does this mean the end of case studies for assessments? The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has led to an ongoing debate on its integration into various sectors, including education. As AI-generated case studies become increasingly sophisticated, educators are grappling with the implications of incorporating these tools into their curricula. Can AI-generated case studies elevate students' learning experiences, and what are the consequences of embracing these tools in education, business, and society at large? AI-generated case studies can be a powerful tool in education. These tools can save time and resources, allowing educators to focus on teaching critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, AI-generated case studies can provide students with a wealth of diverse and engaging materials to analyze, thereby enhancing thei...
